Blessed Sacrament Catholic ChurchA place to encounter the Lord in Word, Sacrament, and Community
An Active, Diverse, and Faithfully Catholic Parish
Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church was first founded in 1844 in Harrisonburg, VA to go out and make disciples of all nations as Christ instructed the apostles. (Matthew 28:19). At that time, the Shenandoah Valley had even fewer Catholics, and a single traveling priest was sent sporadically to meet the spiritual needs of the people. Since then, Blessed Sacrament has blossomed into an established parish with over 4,500 parishioners from a variety of different backgrounds, ethnicities, and cultures. Fr. Silvio Kaberia, pastor of Blessed Sacrament, and Fr. Miguel Melendez, parochial vicar, have responded to this massive growth with renewed zeal and outreach to those seeking God and His Church.
Our parish is a lively community committed to worshipping God faithfully, forming disciples of Christ, making the sacraments available, and serving those most in need. Here, you will find a deep reverence for the sacred in an approachable and comfortable setting. In the words of Pope St. John Paul II: “Be not afraid!” All are invited and welcome to our parish family.
Additionally, Blessed Sacrament has expanded its presence beyond the borders of the United States by joining with its sister Church, the Catholic Parish of St. Isidore on the small island of LaGonave, Haiti. Through our interaction in Haiti we can assist in strengthening the faith of others by donating and providing a sense of unity through our Universal Church.
Fr. Silvio Kaberia, Pastor of Blessed Sacrament, welcomes you to our parish community!
