On the weekend of November 11 and 12, Blessed Sacrament held our first Ministry Fair in over 5 years. Many of the parish ministries set up exhibits in the Holy Family Center and were there after all masses to share with us information about the many ways in which we can become more actively involved in our parish. There were exhibits for all of the liturgical ministries, including Eucharistic Ministers, altar servers, ushers, lectors, and choir. There were also exhibits for our various outreach ministries, including: Haiti, Table of Brotherhood, Friendship House, Faith in Action, and of course our Food Pantry. The Food Pantry featured a most informative tour through the facility. Other groups promoting parish life included the Council of Catholic Women with their Moms’ Group, Older Adult Ministry, and Bereavement committee, The Young Adult Ministry, The Knights of Columbus, Legion of Mary, and a relatively new ministry called Blessed is She. Adult faith formation had exhibits for FLOW and many of the prayer and study groups active in our parish. We had a nice turnout, if you can count by the number of donuts served (30 dozen), and people enjoyed visiting with friends old and new.
If you missed it, you can still get a copy of the ministry booklet which contains information about all the ministries in our parish, along with contact information for them all. The booklets are available from the ushers at mass and have been available on a table at the Wolfe Street Entrance.
We have tentatively scheduled a second ministry fair for the 3rd weekend in May, when we can add a little bit more “fair” to the proceedings. It will be held outdoors after masses, and will hopefully feature some fun activities and food for young and old alike. Keep your eyes peeled for more information.
